The next Festival will be...
On behalf of all of the performing artists, I want to extend a sincere mahalo to everyone who attended the 2008 Hawaii Romance Festival. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves at the various concerts and events that celebrated romance and highlighted Hawaii as one of most romantic destinations in the world. Whether you renewed your vows at ‘Iolani Palace, swayed to international music or witnessed the return of a Motown legend to Hawaii under the stars of the Waikiki Shell, watched one of the best-loved romantic movies of all time or saw the Broadway-style presentation of the Most Romantic Songs Ever Written at the historic Hawaii Theatre, grooved to the sounds of R&B sensations at the Blaisdell Arena, or spent Mother’s Day evening at The Royal Hawaiian helping to raise funds to fight breast cancer – you were part of making this event a great success. We were thrilled to bring a wide variety of international musicians, movie legends, Broadway stars, and superstar personalities together with Hawaii’s own talented artist to showcase romance in the best fashion possible. Hawaii responded by extending its aloha spirit to world-renowned performers including 70s and 80s sensation Boz Scaggs, R&B songstress Gladys Knight, Motown legend Smokey Robinson, soul-singer Aaron Neville, Latin music genius Sergio Mendes, Tony Award-winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, American Idol’s Kimberley Locke, and popular Filipino entertainer Martin Nievera, as well as our talented crop of local artists. If we missed you in 2008, click here for highlights from all of the great shows and see what festival-goers had to say. We invite those who got to experience the romance to share their stories with us. Finally, thank you to all of our generous sponsors and unselfish volunteers. You all helped to create an affair to remember. All eyes will be on Hawaii again as we shine the spotlight on the Romance Capital of the World during the next Hawaii Romance Festival.
